What Frames the Picture?

Following about my last post, it is critically important how an issue is framed, how it is constructed so influences our opinions, as shown in this TEDTalks on whether or not we are over medicalized.

Our medical system pays so little attention to prevention rather than treatment, you may be interested in our paper on the connection between health and community vitality. Similarly, our economic system is predicated on growth rather than maintenance. Holling’s ecosystem model is a good model for a vital community, it shows the four succession phases of an ecosystem; once it has developed it flips into conservation, followed by release and renewal.

In such an internet world, we must be informed and understand the statistics to understand how the frame is influencing how we see the picture.
