The Good Society-What is progress

Often late at night, interesting what the dark brings, I wonder about the meaning of life and what is progress?  I just read an interesting history of the drone program by Professor Derek Gregory at UBC, and his critique of the legal and ethical issues with the U.S. assertion it has the right to deploy drones anywhere in the world. Then in the developed world, we have billions of dollars in deferred maintenance of our buildings and critical infrastructure, and now, the National Round Table has just released a report stating that Canada can expect to pay between $21 and $43 billion a year by 2050 if it doesn't come up with a plan to address climate change mitigation and adaptation, depending upon global greenhouse gas emissions and domestic economic and population growth.

Drones, deferred maintenance passed on to future generations, deficits, what are the questions we should be asking ourselves?
