Enlarging the Conversations

The pipeline debate has certainly heated up, pitting one province against the other, and traditional polarized debate that shrinks any potential for common ground. In this article entitled, Cutting through polluted public discourse, Dr. Suzuki makes some key observations about the debasement of public discourse.

This is one of the reasons we launched our dialogue platform, Changing the Conversation, a heavily moderated discussion space that brings together researchers with practitioners and civil society leaders to discuss key public policy issues affecting all Canadians. The platform tries to improve civic literacy and identify common ground about possible solutions for moving forward. Check out our latest discussion on biodiversity conversation.

My latest book, Edging Forward, is also an attempt to expand our common understanding and how the stories we tell ourselves powerfully shape both our attitudes to what we think is possible and our behaviour.
