Working for the Future

For the first time, employment in the renewable energy sector has reached the 10 million mark last year! The renewable energy sector employed 10.3 million people, directly and indirectly, which represents an increment of 5.3% from 2016. Similar to previous years, the leading job markets were China, Brazil, the United States, India, Germany and Japan, accordingly.

Four-fifths of all renewable energy jobs in 2017 were in Asia, thanks to its growing domestic deployment and strong manufacturing capabilities. While the share of renewable energy employment decreased in the U.S., Brazil, Germany and Japan, it clearly increased in the rest of Europe, China and India.

The International Renewable Energy Agency mentioned that by 2030 the total could increase to 24 million jobs around the world!
