This is a photo of the creator behind the new Robert Bateman Centre, that opened this May on Victoria's inner harbout. The Centre is both a dynamic gallery space and a beautiful place honouring Bateman's artistic journey. It is an ecclectic combination of originals and reproductions, and some works that have never been seen in public, highlighting some of the debate around realism and the use of reproductions. The gallery space itself reflects design aesthetics of local BC materials and high end technology to engage younger people. As a former student of Bob's, Paul has truly honoured his mentor on many different levels, and it is a lovely space to visit--a green space, a vital space and connection to the critical importance of diversity.
