A Laggard or A Leader?

While the United States pulls ahead of Canada in the implementation of environmental regulations, we’re left not only in their dust, but in clouds of our own. This piece by Arman Kazemi highlights the disconnect between the progress forecasted by our southern neighbors and disconnect our government has shown when it comes to addressing the need to regulate and control emissions on home soil. The major elephant in the room is the tar sands, whose rate of expansion is eclipsing any progress made by federal and provincial legislation to control our carbon impacts. With Paris on the horizon, and Copenhagen very much in the rear view mirror, we will have to need to come prepared with a much better plan on how to be a positive global example of resource and emissions management, or a very, very good apology.
