A Critical Question

Several of us (Hilary Leighton, Leslie King, Rob Newell and Ann Dale) recently participated in a Climate Consciousness Conference in Findhorn, Scotland. Prior to that, we spent a few days in Paris and were there when Notre Dame caught fire. There was a tremendous silence in the city that night and for several days. Donations started to flow and there was some criticism of so much money being donated for a building. But it is not just a building, it is a French icon and for many around the world. Art and aesthetics are important for our humanity, but equally important are the art and aesthetics that nature and biodiversity bring to our lives. The recent biodiversity report raises a critical alarm that more than half a million species on land “have insufficient habitat for long-term survival” and are likely to go extinct, many within decades.

We now need a similar mobilization of resources to divert this catastrophic loss. How do we make the slow and invisible as dramatic as the picture below?
