Having the Climate Conversation

ICLEI (International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives) Canada is very pleased to announce the launch of Having the Climate Conversation: Strategies for Local Governments, a resource to assist municipal staff with the task of communicating the complex issue of climate change to residents, stakeholders, elected officials, and fellow staff members.

Having the Climate Conversation was developed with the support of Natural Resources Canada to fill a gap and help municipal staff with communicating climate change in relation to municipal climate action and the options available to local governments. It is meant to help local governments with the various aspects of communicating climate change, focusing on the WHY, WHO, WHAT, WHEN, and HOW municipal practitioners can best inform and educate stakeholders within the community. The resource also includes a section on challenges, which identifies some of the main roadblocks facing municipal climate change communication and how they can be overcome.
