DON LUYMES is Manager, Community Planning for the City of Abbotsford. Prior to joining the city, he was a faculty member in the Landscape Architecture program at UBC, with a special interest in site planning and design, and in design theory and criticism. He has degrees in landscape architecture from UBC and the University of Guelph, and has practised his profession with leading firms in Vancouver and Toronto. Prior to returning to Vancouver in 1996, he taught landscape architecture for four years at Pennsylvania State University. Don has completed projects on the scale of small gardens to entire new towns, including the award-winning Don Valley Brickworks in Toronto. His publications include many journal articles and several book chapters.
