The Toronto Economic Development Corporation (TEDCO) was incorporated in 1986 with the mandate to pursue industrial and economic development, and to attract and retain jobs in the City of Toronto. TEDCO's mandate and role within the city has traditionally focused on the Port Lands area, where the corporation has acted as a property manager, land owner, and brownfield expert. While TEDCO's traditional role continues, the City of Toronto recently expanded TEDCO's mandate City-wide as an Urban Development Corporation (UDC). TEDCO also plays a key role in advancing a number of the City's broad Economic Development objectives. Whether it is remediating brownfields, protecting employment lands, supporting our incubator programs and commercialization initiatives, stimulating investment in the Film Industry, or acquiring strategic lands, TEDCO works in close cooperation with the City of Toronto Economic Development Culture and Tourism staff to advance the City's Economic Development Strategy.
