Please find here the 2024-2025 Annual Report from the Binners’ Project. This project evolved from the highly successful United We Can bottle depot program created by my dear friend Ken Lyotier.
The report highlights this social enterprise’s expanding program at St. Paul’s Hospital, three new summer events and representation at the UN’s INC-4 session on the global plastics treaty, and making major progress on the Universal Cart Initiative. $310,255 went directly to Binners, $13,450 hours worked by Binners across all their programs and 150 Binners engaged in the programs.
Working with Ken on developing a case study, we started to explore what makes a community thrive rather than just survive, looking at the concept of agency as an a priori condition to enabling social capital.
Governments have a key role to play in working with existing community social capital to engender greater agency.
