The Greater Montreal Climate Fund has entered into a partnership with Efficiency Capital to launch a new program called MultiRés, a retrofit program that aims to decarbonize multi-unit residential buildings in the 82 municipalities of Greater Montreal. Its initial focus will be on removing heating oil from residential buildings and promoting measures to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in the Greater Montreal region.
The program provides low-interest financing and additional financial incentives to property owners who invest in energy-saving measures such as insulation, windows, heating systems, and lighting upgrades. The pilot program is open to older residential buildings that have between 6 and 50 residential units and are still heated by fossil fuels. It is part of a wider strategy to increase energy efficiency in the Greater Montreal rental housing sector.
