Eivdence-based Decision Making

Evidence for Democracy is partnering with the Science Integrity Project,  both of which are concerned that many public policy decisions made in Canada—and in its cities, provinces and territories—are not derived from the best available evidence, from research and indigenous knowledge.  They have been working on “developing a set of principles to protect and promote evidence-based decision making in Canada”. Its four principles for improved decision-making on the best available evidence, can serve as a critical imperative for researchers, indigenous knowledge holders, scientists, officials and the public. They focus on the importance of inclusiveness, transparency, and acknowledging the critical role that scientific evidence and indigenous knowledge can play by becoming broadly accessible and understandable to decision-makers and the public.
