Nature-Based Solutions: Rewilding

Restoring natural landscapes damaged by human exploitation can be one of the most effective and cheapest ways to combat the climate crisis while also boosting dwindling wildlife populations, a scientific study reveals.

They state if a third of the planet’s most degraded areas were restored, and protection was added to areas still in good condition, that would store carbon equating to half of all human caused GHG emissions since the industrial revolution. And would prevent 70% of species extinctions.

Imagine if we combined ecosystem regeneration of just 15% of converted lands with finalizing 50% of protected spaces in Canada by 2030 and nature-based solutions in our recovery infrastructure strategies.
