Tidal power is an exciting and innovative idea that has been making the rounds for quite some time. Now that the clean energy development wave (pun intended) is gaining ground, more initiatives like the Dent Island Tidal Power Generation development and demonstration project are able to successfully apply for funding. John Weston, MP for West Vancouver–Sunshine Coast–Sea to Sky Country just announced that the Dent island project would receive a 1.5 million dollar investment through the Government of Canada’s Clean Energy Fund. Not only will it be exciting to follow the success and progress of this technology as it develops, but Weston makes an excellent point when he mentions that it will also create much needed jobs in the clean energy sector. It is important to remember when considering investments in our future, that not only will the environment benefit from new sources of energy production, but they will also create much needed jobs. It is a classic example of a win-win situation, where the benefits are a cleaner future, and the dependability of long term economic stability.
