A Concert for Climate Change

Now home with my beloved dogs and the other two-legged being I live with. The concert last evening was truly magical, some artists I knew but two others I did not. So, Patti Smith, Rebecca Foon’s wonderful music I knew but I didn’t know nor understand Flea or Thom Yorke’s music. It is generational, I am a product of the sixties, a Clapton, Deep Floyd, Beatles, Dylan, Cohen, Peter, Paul and Mary, Mick Jagger and many others, so many memories.

While I didn’t know Flea or Thom Yorke, and had to ask a younger colleague to explain their electronics, at the same time I realized they were fabulous guitarists, as only one instrument. Then I looked them up on wickipedia, and read their bios. I have often talked about the lack of activists in the music industry, such as Peter, Paul and Mary, Pete Seeger, Buffy Ste. Marie, and now realize how ignorant I was. Such a great divide, how to explain the gap, that it is different genre, a more diverse expression. One of the benefits of hanging out with younger people, is that it blows your boxes open.
