For the first time in 40 years, global CO2 emissions did not rise in 2014, while the global economy grew 3%. Pollutant emissions and economic growth are finally starting to decouple. According to The Climate Group: "What we are seeing here is the cumulative impact of growing levels of investment into low carbon activities, not least in China and other major economies," says Damian Ryan, from The Climate Group. "Over the last decade we have seen tens and then hundreds of billions of dollars invested each year into renewable energy, energy efficiency and other green growth opoprtunities".
