Such a complicated world

This article is so thoughtful, entitled Monuments to the Unthinkable.  What can we learn from Germany? There is still controversy over exactly how many Jewish people lost their lives, but those of us who are not prejudiced believe the figures of approximately 6 million. Many argue that we should forget while others believe that we need to memorialize this atrocity so that we never forget. I had the privilege of recently visiting Italy, a land of such antiquity, but the Romans were certainly an aggressive overpowering culture, driven by the greed of the Medicis. The tension between memorializing as this thoughtful article argues and revisionist history is palpable.
