Re-energizing Canada Report Cover

Sustainable Canada Dialogues (SCD), a country-wide network of over 80 scholars, just published a report commissioned by Natural Resources Canada. Bridging decision-making and academic thought around energy and climate change, this report offers suggestions on how Canadian governments, companies and citizens can advance decarbonisation in a manner coherent with the Paris Agreement. It draws on data, peer-reviewed research and other relevant documents to explore the challenges and opportunities in achieving a low-carbon energy transition that will form the foundation of a sustainable future. SCD believes Canada has an opportunity to drive innovation and deliver benefits now and into the future by tapping our vast renewable energy potential and know-how to make the transition away from fossil-fuel-based energy systems.

Sustainability Solutions Group and whatIf? Technologies just published a major report for the City of Toronto, called TransformTO: Climate Action for a Healthy, Equitable & Prosperous Toronto - The Pathway to a Low Carbon Future.

The #TransformTO report contains the results of modelling greenhouse gas emissions to 2050 and finds that it is technically feasible, using presently available technologies, for Toronto to meet its goal to reduce greenhouse gases by 80% in 2050, compared to 1990 levels.

TransformTO is being considered by the City of Toronto's Parks and Environment Committee on May 4, 2017. It will be considered by City Council on May 24, 2017, subject to the actions of the Parks and Environment Committee. You can read the report and recommendations to the Parks and Environment committee here.
