Youth Speak Up

Last week, our front page featured the civic work of 16-year old Greta Thunberg urging immediate action on climate change. Student strikes in Australia, Scotland and Ireland were joined by England, expanding to France, with an even bigger global mobilization planned for today. On Twitter, a supporter who posts under the name The Dormouse That Roared, has compiled a Google map that pins all the reported or announced locations.

The global strike on happening today is expected to be the biggest yet, with mobilizations in 150 cities. German youth Luisa Neubauer explains, “What we need our politicians and our government to understand is that everything they do today comes at a price for future generations. We are not doing this for fun, but because we don’t have a choice.”
